Hey Sugar Bee Readers! I’m Kilee from ONE little MOMMA– Mandy’s fashion contributor. This month we are talking summer style. Am I the only one who thinks it is hard to feel stylish when you are sweating???
In the summer it gets a lot harder to be creative with what you are wearing. It is hot and layers just aren’t going to happen. You typically have to go back to the basics with just a tee and some type of pants/shorts/capris. No more layering (at least here in Missouri!). The best way to change up your look or add some personality to it is to change your bag and your shoes. I have shared my picks for fun Spring/Summer shoes and so now I’ll share a few fun bag ideas!
I love to shop at garage sales and thrift stores for my purses. I can find unique bags for such low prices! I bought the above clutch at a garage sale for maybe .50. It had a long handle which I cut off. I love the bright teal color for summer.
This red bag I also bought for .50 at a garage sale. It is actually a vintage carry-on luggage piece, but works great as a purse. I don’t mind the size of it (usually), but I really LOVE the color.
Yep, this messenger bag is from a garage sale too. It is also vintage luggage. The army green canvas and the faux leather detailing on this messenger bag definitely says summer to me.
If you aren’t so lucky at garage sales or thrift stores, I put together a bunch more fun summer bag ideas for you. I love canvas, straw, bright colors, and fun prints for summer. If your bag is interesting, then it will spice up your basic solid tee and denim shorts.

Loved all the great outfits for summer. Alot of the clothes even an older person could wear without looking like we’re trying to be younger. Love all the yard sale bags, perfect and the prices were sure right. Wish I could find yard sales like that.
I’m using a purse I made out of a burlap pinto bean bag. I found some fabric in my stash that was blue striped and looked similar to burlap to line bag with. I put two good sized pockets on inside of bag. Made straps with fabric I lined it with and have had many complimentary comments on it.
I’m going to make more burlap bags and line them with more fabrics, put pockets on inside and out with fabrics I line with or complimentary fabric for variety. I had such a good time making the pinto bean bag, hope people like other bags I make. Maybe sell a few. I made the straps so they would go over my shoulder, making it easier to carry. Wish I had a camera so I could show bag to you. I love it and it’s light.

I can’t believe you got your purses for so cheap from garage sales! I can’t ever find any in good condition at my local garage sales. Anyway, for my summer bags, I’ll usually go with bright-colored cloth bags. However, the faux leather messenger bag that you got is super cute, too! Thanks for sharing.
I totally agree that the best way to change up your look or add some personality to it is to change your bag and your shoes. I’ve always bought fabric bags, but now I want to look more strict and confident. I think that getting a leather handbag with some high-heeled shoes will definitely boost my confidence, and I will not be that shy anymore!
I always organize my stuff for me to easily remembered where did I put them and that travel bag is amazing it could accommodate everything I want to carry on,
I love the picture of the bright red handbag that you were able to pick up from a garage sale. The shorter handles and the stitching looks great against your navy blue pants. My sister’s birthday is coming up in three weeks and I know she’s always on the lookout for a new bag. I’d love to find something unique and fun that I could get her.
