Today is our last day of school, yeah for summer!! By the summer’s end, I’m sure we’ll just be glued in front of electronics (isn’t that the way it always goes?!) but for now I’m trying to come up with lots of fun summer crafts and activities. One of which is summer reading – that’s a huge thing for us! And of course, if there’s going to be summer reading, you’ll need bookmarks. These ones are super fun, the color combos are endless, and super easy to make! Let me show you how to make Corner Bookmark Monsters Summer Craft Idea.
I know you love saving ideas for later, so here are a couple of images to pin:
First, you’ll make a basic corner bookmark, then you’ll add a few embellishments to turn it into a fun monster, all are super easy! May contain affiliate links
You’ll need:
–square paper – grab a whole pad for less than $4!
–circle punch -I used 3/4 in and 1 1/2 inch, but wish I had a 1 inch circle punch)
–glue and scissors
Corner Bookmark Monster – VIDEO TUTORIAL
This is one of those projects that works better to show you the how-to in video format instead of pictures. I do still have a picture tutorial for you on down, but it’s easier to watch the video to see how to make the folds, and it’s only a minute long! Here ya go!
How to make a Corner Bookmark
Start with a square piece of paper, mine is 6 inches by 6 inches (I love using the pre-cut paper packs!)
Fold it in half along the diagonal:
Take each side point and bring it up to the center point, pressing the fold:
Then unfold those side points and bring one layer of the center point down to meet the long fold line:
Using the previous fold lines, tuck each corner point down into the center:
Cut a piece of paper slightly smaller than your square and attach it into the inside of your bookmark with a gluestick:
Kids Craft Idea Monster Bookmark
Now that you’ve got the base for your corner bookmark, let’s turn it into a monster!
Punch several circles for eyes and attach them with glue sticks. I used 2 large circles and 2 small circles:
Using a scrap of white paper, cut a jagged zig zag to resemble teeth:
Attach teeth to the inside edge of the bookmark using glue and voila! Place on corner to mark your spot!
Mix and match colors and patterns for endless monster creations!
