It’s this time of year that makes you reach for simplicity and all those great tips to make things run smoothly. I have a great Everyday Practical Idea for you today, all about paper towels. Yes, paper towels – they can be used for so many things! Today’s tutorial is for Paper Towel Flower Gift Toppers.
We use and love Sparkle® Paper Towels, and right now you can save $1.00 off on Sparkle® paper towels by downloading this coupon – score!!
Ways to Use Paper Towels During the Holidays:
–packing ornaments – I always wrap our ornaments in paper towels when packing them up – provides cushion and safety inside the big decorations box
–scenes of snow – if we want to set up a little village or nativity on a snowy scene, white paper towels are the perfect thing to put down!
–cookie decorating cleanup – of course, the cleanup use for paper towels is a given, but I really do love the ease of them when it comes to fun holiday activities
–gift toppers – yes! this is what I’ll show you today – you can get creative in your gift wrapping and use things from around the house, such as incorporating paper towels into gift wrapping.
Paper Towel Flower Gift Toppers:
First I dip-dyed the paper towels by dipping them halfway into a dye bath and then set them out to dry. I was looking for gift toppers with color, but you can totally just use white paper towels and make white flowers – this part is up to you.
I really love the dip line, how the thirst pockets pulled the dye up in the towel – looks super cool:
Next cut a circle out of your paper towel. I wanted to incorporate both the white and the color, so I cut my circle to include both areas. Then cut a spiral into the circle – you can freehand it, it doesn’t need to be perfect.
Now, from the outside working in, roll up that spiral strip. It’ll start to bloom out a little, which is what you’re looking for – when you get to the middle, just glue the bottom of the rolled-up part down on the center using hot glue. This will secure your roll in place.
Then step back and admire the flower you just created! Make a few and attach them to the top of a gift , and bam, you’ve got an amazing and unique gift topper, from simple Sparkle® Just White paper towels (and don’t forget your coupon!)
