Holiday Poinsettia Tire Wreath

This time of year, I see wreaths in anything that’s round – a tire is no exception! A perfect way to recycle your old tires when it’s time to get new ones. (If you’re on the lookout for new tires, we’ve been buying ours at Discount Tire – I love that I get to partner with a brand that we use and trust!) An old recycled tire is a perfect base for a wreath form, and you just build up from there! Today I have a tutorial for the Holiday Poinsettia Tire Wreath – love it!

I love the rustic yet fun vibe that it has going on, and I love that it’s super affordable – I think it cost less than $5 to make!

So, let’s jump right in! You’ll need:

–old tire and a way to cut it (we used a saw’s all)

–red felt

–large ribbon

–embellishments (greenery, berries, buttons, etc)

–hot glue, scissors, etc

First up, let’s prepare your wreath form, aka, the tire. I wanted to cut the tire in half and fill the ring with flowers. But you can’t cut it exactly in half because it makes the ring area too deep. So cut it about 1/3 of the way in, all the way around – here’s showing you where to cut:

Just go slow, and have help to hold the tire, etc. Work your way around, and you’ll get two pieces – we’re going to use the smaller one:

Next up, prepare the felt poinsettias. We’re not going for perfection, mistakes will blend in, so it’s no worries. I just freehanded petal shapes in two sizes, large and smaller.

Then I used hot glue to assemble. I used a dab of glue at the base of each petal to fold it a little and give it dimension.

Then I glued 6 large petals together with 5 smaller petals on top to form the flower. And then just repeated until I made 5 flowers.

Then it was time for embellishments – I added buttons to the centers of the flowers and then greenery and berries spaced in between the flowers, in the rim of the tire. I just hot glued everything into place, directly onto the tire and onto neighboring flowers, etc.
