Right now at our house we’re obsessed with word bead bracelets! They’re fun and easy to make and they appeal to everyone! I’m going to tell you quickly how you can make your own!
Word Bead Bracelets Craft Idea
You’ll need:
–desired beads (more on this below), letter beads
—stretch magic cording (more on how to use this below)
Beads to use for Bead Bracelets
You can really have free reign in what beads you use! No rules in crafting! If you want a more sophisticated look, stone or glass beads like I used above are great. Kids find pony beads easy to work with because they’re easy to thread. If you like a smaller, detailed look, large seed beads may be a great choice for you. I found the beads I used in this project at Michaels.
Letter Beads For Bead Bracelets
There are a variety of letter beads to choose from – the most classic ones are white with black lettering, they come in round or in square. I’ve also used gold letter beads and loved that more subtle look. You can even get beads with color – it’s totally up to you!
Instructions for Making Word Bead Bracelets
First wrap the cording around your wrist to find the correct size. Cut a piece of cording double the size of your wrist (so you have enough to tie the knot).
Thread on the beads. When threading letter beads, be sure the letters are facing the correct direction. TIP: I start towards the middle, or with the word, and then add the colored beads to either side.
Next tie the cording:
How to use Stretch Magic Cording
Stretch Magic Cording isn’t an elastic band, it’s cording that has a little stretch to it. I prefer it when making beaded bracelets. The key to using Stretch Magic Cording is in how you tie your knots. You need to tie a square knot, and then one more knot over the top of that one. So I tell myself: right-over-left, then left-over-right, then right-over-left again, pulling it tight each time. After you have those 3 tied, if desired, you can add a drop of super glue on top of the knot. I don’t normally do that, and the knot is still able to hold. Then you can cut off the tails.

That’s it! That’s all there is to it on how to make your own beaded bracelet! They look really great when you make several and stack them together.
