Learn step-by-step how to make a herringbone pattern crochet dishcloth. This is a simple pattern and great for beginners. It uses the basic crochet stitches of Double Crochet and Half Double Crochet – if you can make those stitches, you can make these!!
Sometimes crochet is best when I can just sit down beside you and explain what I’m doing. So the next best thing is a video tutorial! Here’s that, and then I also wrote out the pattern on down.

Remember, I’m not a super strong crocheter, so let me know if there are parts of this that don’t make sense 😉
Chain 26 (or however long you want, depending on the size you want).
Row 1: Skip ch and then HDC into each chain. Chain 2 and turn.
Row 2: Skip stitch, DC, then DC into the skipped stitch from BACK to form an “x”. Repeat for entire row. Chain 2 and turn.
Row 3: Skip stitch, DC, then DC into the skipped stitch from FRONT to form an “x”. Repeat for entire row. Chain 2 and turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3, alternating “x” formation until dishcloth is desired size. I made 9 rows of x’s total.
Last Row: HDC into each stitch. Fasten off.
That’s all there is to it! Make them in lots of fun colors!
