What do you get as a gift for baby number 3?? I love giving personalized things, because that way baby will have something all their own, instead of the regular hand-me-downs. And this time around, I wanted to include big brothers… I think this Big Brothers and Baby Shirt Set came out SUPER CUTE!
As you can imagine, we couldn’t get a great picture of a 4 yr old, 2 yr old, and newborn proudly displaying their shirts together – so here’s the next best thing – individual shots mashed together:
These siblings will steal the show wherever they go!
The “Small, Extra Small, and Double Extra Small” idea was a great one, but I was able to take it a step further and add the kids’ names to the shirts. Every kid seems to LOVE their name on a shirt, so it makes it a little more special for them. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut heat-transfer vinyl. I had it do the big letters like normal, and then I typed names inside of those letters and used the negative space. I love it!
I do think that if the oldest is without his siblings around, it might look weird to have a shirt that says “S is for Easton”, so he’ll just have to stick close to his brothers.
If you have ever tried to shop for matching shirts while crossing departments at the store, you’ll know it’s near impossible. You can’t find a baby shirt that will match a toddler shirt, and a toddler shirt that will match a big boy shirt. My solution was to DIY it – – you can find white in every size, so start there. Then I had some green dye on hand:
A few hand-dying tips:
–it’s not hard – just give it a try!
–get your items wet before you dye them – this will help the color saturate evenly
–read the instructions – you’ll probably need to add some salt to keep the color bright
–wear gloves! otherwise you will dye your hand (trust me on this…)
That’s it – now they look like a set!! (and I know what you’re think “gee, she could have at least ironed those shirts..” – – well, summer’s busy!)
if you want a Silhouette cutting machine (how I cut the iron-on vinyl), they’re still on sale this week…
