Yep, we got to try the Dannon Oikos Yogurt (that “yogurt” is a tough word to spell!! took me a few tries…) – – we tried the plain and the fruit on the bottom. Did you know: Dannon® Oikos® Plain and Fruit on the Bottom contains 0% fat, while the Dannon® Oikos® traditional blended varieties contains about 3% fat. Both are an excellent source of protein, twice that of most regular lowfat yogurts.
It is a “Greek Yogurt” – I’ll have to admit, I didn’t even know what that was… so here’s info to fill you in: Dannon® Oikos® is created through an authentic Greek straining process which gives it a rich and creamy-thick texture. Ah-ha, that’s why it’s so different – extra creamy-thick!
I tried to write down what some of the household thought:
8 yr old “it’s good! I don’t know how to explain it – usually I don’t like yogurt, but I love that.”
4 yr old “it takes like pudding!”
Trevor: “well that’s thick. good”
It reminded me something other than yogurt – you know that cream cheese spread flavored stuff – it had that type of consistency – really thick, nice touch of flavor.
I think this must be the hot new thing because when I went to buy mine, it was almost all sold out! Luckily there were a few that I could grab – we tried plain, and fruit on the bottom in peach and strawberry.
You should read some of what fans have to say over on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oikos?sk=wall
Then run out and grab some to try for yourself. Enjoy!! You could even make Greek Yogurt smoothies – – here’s a list of some great-sounding recipes….https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=464419985980
