If you are looking for a Super Simple sewing project idea, THIS is it! There is only one straight line to sew, and it doesn’t have to be that straight, fleece is very forgiving 😉 This is a great first sewing project for a beginner!

Using fleece is so fun because there are SO many print options! And it’s so soft, and since it doesn’t unravel it’s great to use in craft and sewing projects. You can buy fleece online at Michaels through Hancock Fabric – that’s where I grabbed this awesome Frozen fleece. I also grabbed Minnie Mouse – and some cat and meow fabric, because when I’m ordering fabric, I always stock up!

Fleece Hat Instructions
Cut a piece of fleece 19 inches wide and 15 inches tall. That’s for a child size. If you’re making it for an adult, maybe 22 inches wide? You can always measure around your head and make sure it’s the right size. Make sure the stretch of the fabric is the part along the width (so it’ll stretch a little to go on your head).
With the right sides together (sometimes with fleece it won’t matter which is which), fold the fabric in half. Sew along the edge. In the picture below, the fold is on the left and you’ll sew the seam on the right.
Just sew along the edge – it doesn’t need to be perfect!
Now you have a tube. Cut stripes of fringe about 1/2 in wide and about 4 inches down from the top, as shown below:
Turn the tube right-side out. Tie a piece of yarn around the bottom of the fringe. This will make a fringey pom pom at the top of the hat.
Then simply cuff up the bottom a couple of times, and voila, done!!
Have fun making your Super Simple Fleece Hat !
