Stick Figure Family (in the making)

I want to show you a sneak peek into a family costume idea – – the Stick Figure Family…

I saw a stick figure costume over at All For the Boys (go check it out!) and my wheels got to turning – that would make the perfect FAMILY costume set.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m weak for a family-themed costume set. But my kiddos aren’t so keen on it. BUT, the past few years we’ve compromised – they get to be what they want for Halloween (see this year’s costume choices here) and then they’ll play along and get into the family-themed bit with our Halloween Party at church. So, in thinking of a good family-themed costume, it has to be something quick and easy, because it’s not their “main” costume and I don’t want to put too much effort into it…

The year before was more effort, and we went as a family costumes of Angry Birds:

So when I saw a stick figure costume, I knew it’d be perfect. We’re always doodling stick figure families, we used to be one of those with a stick figure family on the back of our van, etc. And it’s simple to do. But for today’s tutorial, I didn’t do the whole family – just myself so you can see a girl stick figure version (the original version was a boy) and then you’ll have to stay tuned for the Family Stick Figure Costume pictures (because I bet we don’t put that together til the night of the party).

Stick Figure Costume Idea

You’ll need:

–white clothes (pants, shirt)

–black tape (mine was the skinny version of duct tape)

–paper plate and marker

–2 pair black socks (feet, hands) – gloves and/or black shoes would work too

Put on your white clothes. Have someone tape out your lines (Trevor was happy to help with this project….)

Then draw out a face on your paper plate. The trick with the girl version is trying to leave space to add hair. (Did I tell you that Trevor broke his arm? Playing flag football – it required surgery to put a screw in to hold it back together – crazy!)
