I am just getting around to showing you the latest awesome addition to our formal(ish) living room – – the couch and chair of fabulousness!
let me tell you all about how this came to be…
We were hosting a New Year’s Eve party and cleaning up when I caught view of the “mom” scrawled across the arms of our old couch and surveyed it’s sad condition. We had purchased it when we moved into our house and it had 3 living areas – our old house only had 2. So I found it at a garage sale, a couch, loveseat, and chair for $50 – obviously not in the greatest condition, but it was better than sitting on the floor. Well with people coming over I thought the time was NOW to get a new set – – Trevor agreed, looks at his watch and is all “you think we have time to go shopping right now??” um, it was already afternoon. So shopping that day was a no-go…but it sure got me thinking….
So then I get onto Overstock and browse and see this New Year’s Day deal on this couch for super cheap. But I can’t pull the trigger on big purchases and wasn’t sure I wanted it – – until of course it sold out, and then I realized I desperately needed it. I got on their waitlist and snagged it when it came back in stock. And while that was in my cart, I added the ultimate chair that I found randomly browsing their site – it’s so me! I couldn’t NOT get it.
Love that it all came delivered right to our door – – fun to get a load of boxes!
Obviously furniture that comes in pieces that you assemble yourself isn’t the greatest quality, but I’m good with that. It’s our front room, not our living room, so it doesn’t get used all that often. And so it’s okay if the quality isn’t great or if the couch isn’t comfy – cause it just doesn’t matter.
Trevor blogged about the fun of furniture assembly – he loves this sort of thing (only not).
I was so excited that I forgot to take a “before” picture – – but I found one over on my Gallery Wall Post. The new couch is the same size as the old couch, but it just gives the illusion of so much more space!
To fill the space, I think a pallet coffee table would be awesome…we’ll see if I can win on that one…

The leather couch seems to make the dark colors in the gallary wall pop even more.

Wow for real, what a difference….that is crazy!!!
The new armchair is adorable, and the dark sofa just looks so much better. The old one got washed in with the background and didn’t add anything to the room.
I’ve never assembled a couch before, interesting, but it looks great, so hey whatever, right? Besides your hubby did it for you, so thats always good, lol.
Love the teal accents in the room,,,, so pretty 🙂
Have a wonderful day, and stop by anytime to say hello if you can.
P.s. After coming back from an extended blogging break, I’ve started a 40 day challenge to get HEALTHY by my birthday. If you get a chance to check it out, I could sure use the support!
Hugs, Bella 🙂

You would not believe changing a sofa would make such a difference. Love the new one so much more modern.
