We recently had an Awesome Minnie Mouse Party and I want to tell you all about it!
(if you are looking for amazing deals on Disneyland, check out Getaway Today!! They are always running super awesome specials! affil link)
You know how I like to make things easy – well pulling together this party – easy! All the decor and supplies were found at Walmart – I LOVE how it’s one-stop shopping – you can get party decor, supplies for party crafts, gifts, and pick up the cake, and even find some cute Minnie Mouse clothes to wear – all at the same store. Talk about easy! Here’s how it all came together:
I thought the pinata made for a great tablescape focal point. When it came time to “break” it (it was a pull string kind) we just took it outside and Trevor held it up while the kids pulled strings.
I love being able to involve the kids – my girls were in charge of making the waterbottles party-ready. They simply wrapped them in ribbon from the craft department and secure it with tape. So cute!
We’re Minnie Mouse fans at our house – especially since a couple of years ago when we went through her house and I realized she’s a crafter!! Here we are, sitting at her sewing machine….
In the pics above we’re wearing the Minnie Mouse ears that we picked up in the party section at Walmart. Another option is to make some cute Minnie Mouse hairclips like I have done in the past:
We’ve had the Minnie Mouse dress for a while, but it was fun to pick up the Minnie Mouse shorts at Walmart – they were only $5 🙂 The other girls all had some sort of Minnie Mouse garb on – everyone loves Minnie Mouse!! The boys didn’t really sport any pink, but they still loved being in on the party.
You’re supposed to order a cake 24 hours in advance, but they were able to get my cake out the same day that I ordered it – how about that for service! The colors were bright and fun and it came with keepable cake topper toys. The theme matched the party decor they have available, so everything tied together.
Walmart had everything the party needed! Of course, I wanted to go a little above and beyond, so I made some super-simple Minnie Mouse Oreo Cookies – and I have a quick tutorial for those.
You just need regular-sized oreos, and the mini ones (which took me awhile to find – I had to hoist a kid onto the top shelf so they could dig around) and some icing.
Put a big dab of icing on….
Then attach an ear. And repeat for the other ear:
Then make an icing bow, which is just two triangles with a dot in the middle where they connect:
Voila!
