Um yeah, I can’t believe it either.  3 Days til Google Reader goes away. You all know of my love for Google Reader – I’ve posted about it in the past probably a half-dozen times – it’s the NEXT button that won me over.   But now we have to move on.  I don’t want to loose you in the shuffle – – so a few things to do…..and to-do NOW – you won’t be able to switch your feed after Monday, you’ll have to start over, so switch it before then and save yourself some work (it’s just a click or two to switch on BlogLovin or Feedly – they’re made it SUPER easy).

BLOGLOVIN
I’ve heard several people say they love BlogLovin’ as a reader.  I signed up, but haven’t given it much of a chance yet because I’m using my NEXT button til the last possible second.  But it’s probably what I’ll switch to – and you can find Sugar Bee Crafts on it here:

I know even less about Feedly, but other people have mentioned it as their favorite reader, so it’s another one to check in on.
OTHER STUFF – – – 
While we’re on the topic of blog housekeeping, I wanted to touch again on the whole “Truncated Posts” thing – – I know most people don’t like them.   BUT, they come with the huge benefit of a faster-loading blog, which most people like.  So the past month or two I have been trying to work both sides to make everyone happy.  (Random, this was a hot topic that Trevor posted about exactly a year ago – time flies) – – Trunk-8

Here’s what I do:  I post normally – not truncated.  That means that if you’re using a reader, etc, you get the whole post, not cut off.  It means if you visit my blog directly, the first post is listed in full, no need to hit the “Click to Read More” button.  BUT – – a day or two after the post has gone live, I truncate it – that way the most recent post or two on my blog are full, but the rest of the 5-6 posts listed on the main front page are truncated – that way the blog will load faster.  
Thoughts on that method??  It’s pretty labor-intensive on my end, seeing as I have to remember to manually edit every post a day after it goes live, but it’s the best solution I could think of.  If you have other suggestions, I’m open to hear them!  I just want the best reading experience for everyone.
Blog LoveRandom thoughts on any blog housekeeping topics??  Let me know!  The “search” feature wasn’t working last week, but it must have been a glitch because it’s up and running now.  I know I need to work on my “Tutorials” pages.  I still try to stick with the policy that if I do a Sponsored Post, that I have another post for that day, so that sponsored content doesn’t take the place of normal content.  I’d considered tweaking my logo, but am still up in the air on that one.
Also, blog reading is cyclical and dips in the summer – but I’m still trying to crank out great blog content.  So I love it when you can share posts, give them that G +1 click, Pin favorite projects to Pinterest, etc.  The blog is supported by readers, so big thanks to you for stopping by!  Love your BLOG LOVE 🙂

    I am not a huge fan of Bloglovin. While it’s great for bloggers from a statistics standpoint, it is really cumbersome from a reader perspective. Feedly is the closest to Reader and my choice for the switch!

    I’ve been using The Old Reader to follow blogs.

    Looking forward to the newsletter! I also like your idea of keeping the posts full for a few days and truncating it later. I think that’s a nice compromise (especially I don’t really care for the truncated posts!).

    I like the full post that day and truncated after that. I’ve found that if I miss a day or two (or five) of catching up on my blog reading (via feedly because I love them) I will have quadruple the posts from you as from anyone else and I couldn’t figure out why. Now I know it’s because you double up on sponsored post days. It can be overwhelming though and I tend to skim more. I like your logo, but whatever makes you happy makes me happy! Also, I like that you do themes!
