the biggest bummer about party decor is sometimes you put a ton of effort into it and then the party is over and the decor is done – – well today I have a solution with this Interchangeable Party Banner! It’s great because A. it’s simple to make and B. you can just swap the pics out and use it over and over at different events. See, awesome!
It’s a great birthday banner idea, or would be super awesome for a graduation party with pics of the kiddo in each year of school, or even a baby shower – the possibilities are endless!
Let’s just jump right in to the tutorial, I know you want to!
Interchangeable Party Banner
You’ll need:
canvas banner flags ( I bought mine, but you could also just cut your own)
doilies
twine
small clothespins
washi tape or other embellishments
(I grabbed all my stuff at Michaels – I was given product in exchange for a post)
You’ll also need small photos – I just printed a bunch off at home:
Each banner is a little different, so to do that I set them all out so I could get a visual of how it was coming together. I layered doilies and used hot glue to attach them. I used hot glue to attach the clothespin (having a clothespin is key, since that’s what will make the banner interchangeable). I also added some washi tape for embellishment details.
To attach the banners to the twine, I flipped them over and put a line of hot glue on the top of the back, and then set the twine right along that line of hot glue. I did that with each one.
And then I added the pics!!
It’s so fun! And the pics can be swapped out, so the banner can be used over and over, I just love that!!

I think it’s a wonderful idea for a banner. You can interchange them with different pictures and your child can hang it up in their room and change the pictures out for new ones whenever the mood strikes! It doesn’t have to be pictures of them, either- they can use whatever picture interest them the most at the time. Thank you for sharing!
