Elf Shirt – Flocked Vinyl – Tutorial
I used Flocked Heat Transfer Vinyl in Red and Green (affiliate link). I cut it with my Silhouette Cameo. I bought the design in the online store (they’re only $0.50 right now! well worth grabbing their design instead of trying to design my own). So a quick how-to:
How to make a flocked vinyl shirt:
- Download the Design
- Mirror the Image (flip horizontally) – this is a MUST with heat transfer vinyl (and I forget all the time! and then have to recut…)
- Drag off the part you don’t want to cut, then cut the other part – your heat transfer should go into the machine with the clear shiny side down
- Cut the other part out of the other color.
- Place on your shirt and iron like crazy to melt it into the shirt. Done!
Remember, through tomorrow almost everything at Silhouette is 40% off with the code SUGARBEE – – including heat transfer vinyl! Stock up if you want to make some shirts….(you can even hand-cut the vinyl if you pick simple designs)
But if you don’t want to hand-cut, and you don’t have a cutting machine, they have that too.

I’ve been wondering how well this stuff holds up to wearing and washing. Do you know?

Gash darn it! My Cricut doesn’t do this kind of fab stuff!!! Hmmmmm how to recreate….
Becca at Love Our Disney says
Adorable! How does the vinyl hold up in the wash? I make a lot of shirts and have been wanting to try it but am scared it won’t hold up well.
Mandy @ Sugar Bee Crafts says
Dunno on this one, I haven’t washed it yet. But with a shirt I made with white flocking, I have washed it tons and it’s still great. Love the stuff!
