I’ve been a little MIA lately (super busy with our Sugar Bee Bling Business) but still getting crafty – be sure to check in on social media to stay up to date! One project that I’ve done and completely forgot to share with you is this cute DIY Summer Tote Bag. Let’s face it, we need ALLLL the tote bags in the summer to carry ALLLL the things, so they might as well be cute and fun and DIY.
So super cute! I went with a plant decal, but it’s totally up to you on how you’d like to customize your tote bag! This post may contain affiliate links.
What makes this easy is that I used a premade tote bag (found it at Michaels), so that I just added the vinyl decal and voila, instant DIY Summer Tote.
If you’ve never used Heat Transfer Vinyl before, don’t be scared of it, you’ve got this! Be sure to check out my How to Use Heat Transfer Vinyl Tutorial.
Customized Tote Bag
You’ll need:
–blank tote bag ( I grabbed mine at Michaels but here’s a similar one I found online)
–heat transfer vinyl (I grabbed mine at Michaels but you can also grab it online HERE)
–extra embellishments if desired (like tassels or wood beads)
Cut your design out on your vinyl – I used a design from the Silhouette Design Store (you don’t have to have a silhouette to get them!), then you are going to “weed” out your design. That means pulling out all the pieces that don’t belong.
Then place your design onto your tote with the clear sheet UP, and press very hard to iron your decal into place.
Then peel off the clear carrier sheet and voila! That’s all there is to it! I did add some pink flowers and then some embellishments. (If you’re adding a different color of vinyl you’ll need to do that in a separate step.)
Enjoy that tote all summer long!
