It’s that time of year, when you’re searching for Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas!! If you’re like me, you always like to include a little handmade something. Today’s project is so cute and perfect, Button Apple Art! Your kiddos can help create it and it’ll be perfect classroom decor. Have you tried button art before?! If not, you need to! It’s super fun, super easy, and the possibilities are endless.
It comes together quick and easy and you can make one too!!
What you need:
Cardstock and pencil
Buttons in project colors (I used red, green, and brown)
Beads in colors that coordinate with buttons
Draw a light outline of the shape you’d like to create with your button art. Work in sections by adding a generous amount of tacky glue and then placing buttons onto the glue.
Keeping working in sections to fill the shape.
Once you have filled one layer of your shape, begin a second layer of buttons. This will help fill in your shape and give it more of a solid color. You can also use the beads in the small areas to fill in and give added shape and dimension. As you work around, be sure to try to cover up your pencil lines.
Repeat those steps for each color-blocked section of your shape. Here I filled in the red apple, then the green leaf, then the brown stem.
You can see how the second layer really adds to the project. I only used a single layer on the stem.
To display, I used a frame with the glass removed. Optional personalization: add a teacher’s name to the mat of the frame! I cut the name out of vinyl (I use Expressions Vinyl – seriously love them!) and then just stuck it to the mat of the frame.
Enjoy making your own Button Apple Art!!

What font did you use for the teacher name? It’s super cute! Thanks for the great idea!

I’m pretty sure it’s Magnolia Sky – I think!

This is adorable! And I love the addition of the teacher’s name if you can do it. I have a Cricut, and this would be a great gift for my son’s teachers.
