I think I’ve blogged about it before, but I’ve been married 10 years – – wowza! Back when I got engaged, PLATINUM was all the rage – and I think it still is, right?!?
Trevor picked out my ring himself and did a great job – it was an Emerald Cut Diamond in a plain platinum setting. Later when we picked wedding bands, we had it mounted into the current band with the small diamonds surrounding the big Emerald diamond. Want to see – I’m proud that I figured out the macro setting on my mom’s camera – ignore how dirty it is! Guess it’s time to take a trip to the mall…
If you’re in the market for a ring, I’d highly recommend platinum!! Head over to precious platinum and be prepared to start drooling – so pretty!!
And I recently learned that for the first time in recent history, the price of gold per ounce has risen higher than that of platinum. That means that platinum is more affordable than ever – wahoo!
Did you know:
–Platinum is a naturally white metal, meaning it will never fade or change color, or need to be dipped or re-plated. (White gold jewelry needs to be re-dipped about once or twice each year)
–Platinum’s pure color means that it won’t cast any color onto the diamonds or colored gemstones it holds, allowing the stones to shine brighter than in any other setting.
–Platinum is the densest precious metal making it the securest setting for a diamond
–with men in mind, Platinum loses little metal to scratching or everyday wear; instead the metal is simply displaced on the ring’s surface, causing the ring surface to strengthen through work hardening. This means the band increases its strength and your groom has a ring that will last forever.
Want some more eye candy??
So, what about you – anyone out there LOVE platinum?? Let’s hear about your ring…
When I got married, I loved my ring. I still do, but sometimes I think I might want a bigger one – – – who doesn’t 🙂 We have a goal to pay off our house and be truly debt free, so maybe for our 20th Wedding Anniversay I can upgrade my bling – – So I’ve been dreaming over at precious platinum and would love something like this:

Oh how pretty! My husband and I have been married for almost 13 years. I loved my ring..it was simple, yet elegant. Unfortunately I had to sell my ring because we had no money and needed groceries. I miss it. We haven’t been able to replace it either…maybe someday. 🙂 I think I just want an anniversary band now.

Platinum is a great metal! I’ve been married for less than a year, my engagement ring and wedding band are platinum. As for dirty rings, my husband’s father owns a jewelry store. I’ve been told for the last 8 years that a tooth brush and dish soap are all you really need to keep your rings sparkling. Most stores offer free cleaning when you buy from them, but at least this is good in a pinch!

You have a beautiful setting. I’ve always loved platinum because I mostly wear silver, so it goes nicely with all my silver pieces! 🙂
