I’ve been seeing yarn ball wreaths around blogland and had to make one for myself – now that I’m declaring myself a “wreath person”. Turned out cute, right??
This is the first time I’ve ever had a wreath hanging on my door, and I love it! It was super cold out but I braved it for a second to get some pictures for you:
I didn’t take pictures during the process, because lots of other people have already done that,
but here’s a few tips for a tutorial:
–Yarn Balls are not solid yarn – that’d be a big waste of yarn. They are ugly ornaments my mom was throwing out (shiny gold) that I hot glued and wrapped yarn around.
–The yarn wrapping took a while so instead of solid yarn balls I mixed it up with shiny silver and glittery green, red, and white.
–I went with traditional colors with some gray added it – I spray painted my wreath form (dollar store $1) gray in case it showed in places.
–I started placement with the big balls and filled in with smaller ones. I was doing it on a flat surface but then thought I should get a visual of how it would look so I set it on my sliding door handle – a few minutes after this picture it went crashing to the ground, busting an ornament and knocking several others off – argh!
–you can read more about the step-by-step making of a Yarn Ball Wreath HERE.
It was fun to assemble – try it!! I worked alongside my cousin Kate – maybe she’ll send me a picture of hers so I can show it too…..
