Need a quick and easy, no-sew costume with items that you have around the house?? Here you go:
I love this costume for so many reasons:
–easy- no sewing required
–made from items you have on hand
–appeals to kids who still want to dress up but aren’t into characters, etc – costume is great for adults as well
—unique!!
As a poor college student I entered as the Upside-Down Man in a campus activities costume contest – just threw the costume together – and then won $50 – score!
Upside Down Man Performance
To make it more fun, hop on one foot (which looks like a hand) and you give a “break-dancing” effect. Or slowly bring your arms (which look like legs) together and you give a “standing-on-your-hands-doing-split-tricks” effect. (As I was taking pictures of the tricks the young neighbor girl came over and was amazing – “is he really standing on his hands – wow!”) For trick-or-treating, just hang a Halloween bucket on one of the shoes.
Upside Down Man Costume Tutorial
So, I didn’t really put together a tutorial for this – it’s pretty easy.
–Get a pair of pants and make sure they fit on your head (for kids, the “slims” do not work – or maybe my kids had big heads!) – cut eye holes. We picked up pants at the Thrift Store.
–Get a shirt that will reach clear up to the pants – here my 7 year old is wearing a size L men’s shirt.
–safety pin the shirt to the pants
–Safety pin a hat/ski mask to the shirt – if you want to go all out, blow up a balloon for the inside of the hat to fill it out more.
–then gloves on the feet (make sure they’re the thick kind for comfort in walking) and shoes/socks on the hands
–That’s it – – go wow your friends. I think a whole upside-down family would be great – if anyone does that, send me a picture!!

I’m just going to have to send this link to my college girls. This is too cute! I wonder if there’s a way to stuff the arms and wire them toether so they stay up no matter what your arms do.
This is really, really, cute. I’m so glad that I found it on GNEE’s blog.
