Hello fall! Time to start busting out craft pumpkins – which is perfect, since that’s my challenge today as part of the Michael’s Makers Team. Michael’s recently started selling these fun half pumpkins, perfect for fall décor wall mounts and fun signs, and I knew I wanted to give them a try – – because, half pumpkins, what a genius idea! (and yep, you can order them online). I’ve been obsessed with the idea of drawing out a frame on a chalkboard, so I incorporated that chalkboard idea into my project. Because I don’t care what trends are what, I’m still all about chalkboards!
Here’s a better angle where you can see how the half pumpkins really lend themselves to signs and wall decor:
This is a fun, simple project that I know you’ll want to tackle yourself. Let me show you the quick how-to…
Trick or Treat Chalkboard Pumpkin Craft
You’ll need 3 half-pumpkins, white spraypaint, a board painted with chalkboard paint (thank you random scrap lumber pile in my backyard…), and some stencils.
I cut the stencils using my Silhouette, and I have the FREE cut file for you, if you would like to use that. You could also just get alphabet stickers and use those.
Stick your stencil onto the pumpkin, then spray the white paint on top of it. I was wanting a little overspray, but you can go with whatever look you’d like.
When it’s dry you can peel off the stencil and reveal your awesome design!
Attaching the pumpkins to the board is super easy because they have built-in hanger slots. I just put a nail in my board and hung the pumpkin on it. I also used a dab of hot glue on the bottom edge of the pumkin because I wanted it to hold itself in the hanging crocked position.
I freehanded the frame onto the chalkboard using a chalk marker.
Just keep adding lines and dots and dashes til you get to a point where you think it’s enough:
And that’s all there is to it! I grabbed the paper fan kit (you know I’m weak for crafting kits!) and set up a fun halloween display in my kitchen. I also think it’d look great on a front porch!
Apparently I have a thing for creating with craft foam pumpkins – here are a few more ideas I’ve tackled in the past:

And want to see all the other ideas from the rest of the Michael’s Makers Team?? of course you do!

Love this Mandy!
This is so cute! I love it!
