Are you a themed Christmas Tree person? Do you like to have a new theme each year – that’s what my husband’s family does. I was able to participate in the Michael’s Dream Tree Challenge and came up with a super fun themed Christmas Tree – Home Tweet Home! It’s a nod to our crazy year and that we’re building our own home, out in nature on land. It ties in both those ideas – nature and home.
I really loved how it turned out! A feel of rustic, but still fun with pops of color and sparkle.
I started with the birdhouse idea and went from there. Birdhouses are only $1 each! It’s a fun way to make a big impact with minimal cost. I used spraypaint and sprayed half of them white and half of them hammered gold. I incorporated pinecones and burplap for that naturey feel.
Overall, I’m the type that loves bright and loud colors, so a rustic tree is a reach. But then I saw these decor balls (they’re normally used as filler in vases, etc) and it all came together. They added the perfect pop of color that didn’t take away from the feel of the overall tree. And the way they are kind of straw/stick ish, I thought they had a bird’s nest vibe. To hang them I just hooked ornament hangers around a hole in the ball.
The glitter gold garland was perfect because it was leaves, so nature, but still sparkly and fun:
I used a crate instead of a tree skirt and painted it to match that deep turquoise color on the accent balls.
I used ribbon around the tree and decided last-minute to use a big bow as a topper, to pull it all together.
Pretty pretty!!
Have you thought about your theme plan for your tree this year??
