You know that I love string art. And you know that I love vinyl. It’s inevitable that I mix the two into a combo craft project! Today I’m going to show you how to make this Snowflake String Art. This post is in collaboration with Expressions Vinyl and may contain affiliate links.
I love how it turned out! I wish you could come see it in person and see the dimension that the string art has – it’s so cool!
Snowflake String Art
Supplies:
–board cut to size and prepainted (I used a 1×6), and trim boards cut to size (I used 1x2s)
—adhesive vinyl (I used white) – I get all my vinyl from Expressions Vinyl – love their awesome selection and lightning-fast vinyl shipping!

–wire nails, hammer
–string, I use the DMC string, HERE

Snowflake String Art – Video Tutorial
yep! I have a super-quick how-to video for you. If you love photo step-by-steps, I have those too!
Snowflake String Art – Video Tutorial
First weed out your stencil design. That means pull out all the pieces you don’t want – background, insides of letters, etc.
Using transfer tape, move your design to your project. I use the clear gridded transfer tape and the grid lines help with getting everything lined up just like you’d like. For example, see below how I made sure that the two dots are on the same line? That’ll make sure I have it all straight.
Next you’ll hammer nails and every intersection point of your design. And at all edges. Work from one side to the other
Once all the nails are in and secure, tie a string around the middle nail and start wrapping. There’s no right or wrong to string art! You can wrap around the outside of the nails, in the inside, figure 8 around them, whatever you’d like! Be sure to hold the string tight so that it doesn’t unravel while you’re working. When finished tie the end around the final nail. Trim tails.
I love how it pops out! And the vinyl really helps define the project.
It turned out so great!!
Can’t wait to hear how your Snowflake String Art turns out!!
