Hi everyone! I’m excited to be here today sharing my Red White and Blue project. I made a fun fabric globe wreath and love the way it turned out. I’m Emily from Nap-Time Creations and I love easy sewing projects, free patterns {I create and share lots!}, recipes, and I’ve recently gotten into Facebook LIVE! My weekly sewing show going live at 9 EST on Wed. nights.. I share a full sewing tutorial with lots of beginner projects and free patterns. Hope you can check it out!
I saw these white fabric globes at IKEA and I just had to decorate them for the 4th of July. A blank canvas waiting for color! You could put the decorated globes on a light string OR I made this fun Red White and Blue Wreath… So.. let’s get started.
You will need a Wreath Form {I used a 12″ wire one} and some globe lanterns. These were from IKEA and for a light garland. I decided to use them for a different purpose though. The look like the paper lanterns, but actually they are made of fabric, so perfect for painting and decorating. I had two sets so 24 lanterns.
I also gathered my Mod Podge, glitter, fabric markers, and some fabric paint. You can use pretty much anything to decorate the globes..
Then comes the fun part! Decorate! Paint..
Glitter!! I used the Mod Podge to attach the glitter. Although on the ones I painted I just shook glitter on the wet paint.
I tried to create a variety of color combinations and designs.
Cover your wreath form with twine or ribbon.
I used hot glue to attach the globes to the wreath. Layout a basic design before you start. I ended up doing an inner circle and then an outer circle, with a few globes on top of this first layer.
I think wreaths look great with big bows, so I added one to mine {ha!} Here’s how I made it… so easy! Cut a large square of fabric. {you want a somewhat stiff fabric} Mine was 11″ square. Fold two sides in towards the center. For the tie I cut a long 1.5″ strip. Pinch the center of the bow and tie the long strip at the center. Glue to the wreath.
There you go! A colorful and fun red white and blue wreath for the 4th of July. I’ve already got ours hanging in the house because I love it so much. A big thanks to Mandy for having me in her Red White and Blue series.
Thanks for having me!!
