I have a super quick, fun, easy craft for you today — a tutorial on Pom Pom Hairpins!
These are part of the Lightning Fast Craft series – click this button to check out other super quick crafts (love those!!)

I was sent some Bonbon packs from Lion Brand Yarn – these things are genius! There are tons of craft projects where you need small amounts of several different colors of yarn. You of course don’t want to buy a whole skein of yarn in tons of different colors when you only need a little bit – that’s why these Bonbons are perfect. They come in lots of types and colors:
The packs reminded me of rainbows. And then my kindergartener had a “rainbow” week where they dresses different colors each day – I knew that the yarn packs would be perfect to make a set of Rainbow Pom Pom Hairpins to accessorize her outfits. And my older daughter had to have some too:
If you’ve never made a pom pom, give it a try – so easy! Since these are small scale, I used as serving fork to wrap the yarn around. The bigger the item you wrap around, the bigger the pom pom. So leave a tail hanging down and start to wrap until it’s as thick as you want:
Then cut your yarn, leaving a tail. Tie the start tail to the end tail, around the bundle of yarn:
And slide it off your fork:
There are two bundle loops of yarn on each side – just cut those open. (By the way, these scissors are amazing!)
It will start out looking like this:
But just fluff and trim it into a nice ball shape:
Then all you have to do is thread a bobby pin onto the string that is holding the middle. That’s it! Pin in hair and enjoy the fun!
Since this is for lightning crafting, I KNOW you can make one in less than 15 minutes, and I challenge you to try to make a whole rainbow in under that time – it’s doable! Love those quick crafts.
Super cute love it!!
