I forgot to show this to you (better late than never?) – check out what we made this summer…
Here’s a better view for you – – Paracord Survival Bracelets!
Everyone’s making them! And I thought about doing a tutorial, but eh, there are tons already out there. You can even watch YouTube video tutorials, etc. That’s what we did. They were easy enough that once we understood the process my 6 and 8 year old could make them.
So, the point of a survival bracelet is that you wear it all the time and then in case of an emergency situation you can unravel your bracelet and use the super-strong paracord as rope, etc.
But I know what you’re thinking – when would elementary-school-age kids be in a survival situation. That’s what I was thinking. But I guess they’re just cool.
AND – true story – – my girls had them on when we went to the drive-in movies. And apparently the trunk hatch on our van opens taller than most vans, because the people behind us came over to complain that it was too high up and they couldn’t see the screen. It just needed tied down a little – you see where this is going, right?! I started to undo one of the bracelets (how handy that we had it!) until Trevor dug out a random bungee cord and used that instead, saving me from having to remake a bracelet. But still – right there in the field of life, it was almost put to use.
Have you made these yet??

These are standard cub scout camp fare in our parts, and have been for years. Probably decades, now that I think how long I have been involved in cub scouts….
