When I saw these Oatmeal Carmelitas on Twelve Crafts Till Christmas, I knew I had to make them (go HERE for the recipe and how-to) and I actually had everything on hand!
First, grab a helper – then realize they aren’t much of a help and keep them occupied with their own personal bowl of brown sugar and a TV show across the way….
Second, mix everything then press half the dough into the pan and bake it.
Third, pour in caramel, choc chips, and nuts for a goey middle layer.
Fourth, crumble the rest of the dough on top and bake again.
Meanwhile, take a break to take pictures of your kindergartner pulling her first loose tooth:
And that’s it – – here they are, nice and goey. We couldn’t wait so we ate them like this with a fork:
But then after they cooled completely later that day we ate them again. You know, to taste test the different variations – – here they are setup properly and cut into bars:
