I have been on the search for stocking hangers for about the last 4-5 years. Every year I find some I like, then realize that at $15-20 a piece, with 4 kids, I could pay over $75 dollars for them – yikes! So I figure I’ll get them on sale after the holidays – and then of course I can’t ever find them. And so the saga continues to the next year.
Well during my blog-hopping I saw some made out of 2x4s over at Crap I’ve Made and I realized I should just make some – why didn’t I think of that before?!?
We’ve got tons of aged cedar for our playhouse project, so that’s what I used. I liked the look of the aged wood, so I left the base plain. I covered the tops to look like presents and hot-glued on bows. Eventually I’ll hang a gift tag off them with each kids’ name…
Oh, are you noticing that my 2 and 4 year old don’t have stockings yet – I’m getting there!!

I love the stocking holders!! Ingenius! Plus they are probably heavier than the ones you buy and won’t fall off as soon as the stocking is stuffed. LUVE IT!

Wow! What a great idea! I was laughing at your explanation of not finding stocking hangers, because I am in the EXACT same boat. They are so expensive and then I wait too long. Your are darling, and you have inspired me to try to craft my own. : )

Do these really stay put when you fill the stockings full??? I’m really loving the idea and thinking about creating my own.
Mandy Beyeler says
They stayed put a decor leading up to Christmas. When they were filled we they were set on the couch.
