I am super influenced by social media, I can’t be the only one! I see projects other people are making or sewing, and then I have to run out and get supplies and get started on those exact things – you too?? That’s what happened with this cute Mermaid Doll – I saw it on Instagram and then when there was a pattern sale I grabbed it for $1 and got to sewing. I just love how it came out! Mermaid Doll – a simple sewing project
This came together pretty easily and I think it’s a great beginner sewing project because you get to learn how to sew curves, use a zig zag stitch, etc. I think I am going to use it to teach my girls those sewing techniques – and they’ll get a cute doll when they’re done!
The pattern is Simplicity 8067 and I’m pretty sure all the fabric I used is from JoAnn. I think. The pattern even comes with the flower and everything!
It called for drawing on the eyes and mouth, but I went for embroidering the face on instead. I should have done that on the pattern piece BEFORE I sewed the head to the body – I’ll remember that for next time. But I love how it turned out.
