Today’s the big deal for math geeks everywhere – Pi Day!! And what better way to celebrate than eating pie wearing a pi shirt?! And so I’m here to show you how to make your own Pi Day Applique Tee – get excited!
This is not the first time I’ve made a pi tee – but it is the first time I’ve made it for kids instead of myself 😉 And I love the fun fabrics – especially the floral!
If you want a step-by-step VIDEO tutorial on applique, I’ve got ya covered – you can check that out:
The basics are:
print an image (this time, the pi symbol) out on your computer, trace it onto heat-n-bond, iron on to the back of your fabric, cut it out
peel off the paper backing, then iron it onto your shirt. I really really love this technique and you can totally do it!!
It’s optional, but I love the look of topstitching around it after it’s attached to the shirt. It’ll stay without sewing, I just like the looks of it!
I probably should have posted this a week ago to give you a heads up, but really, it’s a super quick project and you can crank it out today if you’re like us and heading out to a Pi Party this evening! i love using tees from the thrift store for these type of projects – score!
That’s it! Wear and enjoy!!
And you’ll for sure want to check out all these other awesome ideas for pi day!

This idea is too cute! I love the pattern on the girl’s tee. It would be adorable with a heart or flower too. Thanks for some crafty inspiration!
