This week I helped our youth group make Oreo Truffles – I was most excited to try out the Lemon Oreo Truffles! I wasn’t thinking I’d blog about it, so I didn’t take any pictures, but I’m going to walk you through it – it’s super super simple, so no worries!
The basics behind oreo truffles is that it’s a pack of oreos, shredded to crumbs, mashed up with cream cheese, rolled into balls and dipped in candy melt/chocolate. I’ve made regular ones several times in the past because they’re easy and yummy and present really well. This time gathering supplies I saw several varieties, so in addition to regular I grabbed Mint Oreos and Lemon Oreos. All are delicious! I don’t think most people know about Lemon, so I thought I’d better put it up here on the blog and tell the world:
You’ll need:
1 package Lemon Oreo Cookies
1 package cream cheese (softened)
1 package candy melts
So dump all the cookies in the food processor. When it’s crumbs, use your hand to stir the crumbs into a block of cream cheese – just mash it until it’s consistent. Then grab small pieces of the mixture and roll it into balls. You can see why kids/youth love making these – it’s a fun time!
Then, put them in the freezer for about 15 minutes. This will make dipping easier.
Melt the package of candy melts (I put them in the microwave for 30 seconds, then 30 seconds again, and again, stirring each time til melted). Then just drop the ball into the candy melt, fish it out with a fork, tap off the extra coating, and place somewhere to dry.
You can use sucker sticks, but I think it’s hard to get them to look perfect when they’re on sticks. My tip is to just drop them into mini cupcake liners – super easy and super cute, so you can’t go wrong. You can top with sprinkles for extra cuteness.
That’s it! Eat and enjoy!!
Yummy!! This looks super easy and delicious!!!

Yum, yum, yum! Those cute little treats look just like edible felt balls. I’m sure that pop of lemon makes it extra refreshing!
