Are looking for a quick and rewarding Thanksgiving Craft? I feel like Thanksgiving Crafts get overlooked sometimes due to the time crunch between Halloween and Christmas, but this project is super awesome and doesn’t take much time at all – – this is for you!
We actually did this as a craft at our playgroup – the moms crafted while the kiddos played, so you know it wasn’t that involved of a craft it we did it in that surrounding.
This banner has a wow factor because of the awesome glitter – but the secret is – glitter paper!

I got several versions of gold glitter paper at Michael’s, and it was on sale for $1 a sheet. I used 2 sheets. So $2 cost compared to this $22 banner from Pottery Barn that I used as inspiration – –
I cut out some template letters using my Silhouette, but you can easily just print some out from your computer. For our craft group I had a “fat font” option and a “skinny font” – Bebus Nueve, which is what I used. Just use that template, and trace around the letters onto the back of your glitter paper. You need to make sure the letters are backwards since you’re tracing on the back.
And then just cut the letters out. It’s that easy! It’ll get a little glitter-crazy, but that just makes it more fun 🙂
Then you can just tape the letters from the back to the twine, or you can install grommets (it’s easy to do!) and lace the twine through them.
You’ll want 2 grommets in every letter so you can lace the twine behind the letter:
I had to borrow someone’s mantel to take these pictures because the banner looks especially awesome on a white mantel. I think in my house I’ll hang it across a mirror, which looks great in real life but makes for a hard picture-taking spot.
You’ve got plenty of time to still make one of these this season – go for it!

Oh this is fantastic. Right before I read your post I told my husband that I needed to figure out something to make for our mantle and I do believe this will be my project for tonight. Thanks!

Sorry, I don’t have a template – you can just type up “Give Thanks” in word and print it out – – I’ll put making a template on my to-do list!
