Who remembers Puffy Paint?? For a lot of us, we’ve used it in the past, but not recently. I thought of some fun ways to use it in holiday crafting, and I think I’m hooked again! It’s so fun and easy and a great way to craft and customize projects. Today I’m going to have 3 different projects for you – yes, 3, what a bonus day!! I’m kicking it off with these super cute Embroidery Hoop Ornaments:
Emboridery Hoop Ornaments
You’ll need:
–embroidery hoops (desired size)
–fabric (larger than embroidery hoop)
–Tulip Puff Paint
–ribbon for hanging
First cut the fabric to a square about 1 inch larger than your hoop all the way around. For one of the hoops I actually sewed 3 pieces of fabric together in strips, and then used it. Place fabric in hoop and tighten to secure.
Embellish with Puff Paint. Get creative!! I used text on one, but on another I used the fabric as a guide and embelleshed on top of snowflakes and dots, etc. If it’s really detailed, try using a straight pin to drag the paint out for tiny details.
When writing words, you can print a template and then place it under your design and “trace” it with the slick paint.
Let dry. Meanwhile create “clings” by designing ornament toppers on a plastic bag. Let dry.
When the paint is dry, cut around the outside of the hoop, leaving about a half inch or so to spare.
On the backside, turn under that edge and glue to the hoop as shown below:
Tie ribbon to hoop screw to create a loop.
Peel up dried ornament toppers and glue over hoop screw holder to create ornament topper.
It adds a nice finishing touch!!
And don’t forget, other great Puff Paint Project Ideas!
