Oh how I love crafting in groups – there’s just something about being around other creative people that makes it awesome. This past week I was invited to attend Eat. Drink. Stitch. and it was great! If you live around the Kansas City area, I know you’ll love this. Eat. Drink. Stitch. are happy hour embroidery get-togethers organized by Kristen of Hey Paul – you can check out Hey Paul classes and events. Look, I mastered french knots!!
You arrive at the event and get to choose from one of two patterns available. I went with the pretzel because I wanted to push myself with the challenge of french knot embroidery. This is for any skill level – everyone is around to help you out if you’re an embroidery newbie.
After picking a pattern you can browse the Thread Bar for your color scheme. There are also bonus stitch kits available for purchase, and they even came with this super fun pretzel pin cushion – serious cuteness!
Then you just find yourself a table, and a midst eats and drinks, stitch yourself a great time. My work in progress:
The event rotates locations around Kansas City, and this one was held at The GranFalloon on the Plaza. We were in our own little area and it was a packed house! There’s a whole other group on the other side that aren’t pictured…
Kristen does a great job with the events – everyone feels welcome and ready to dive in. She pops from group to group, showing techniques and tips along the way. Here she is demonstrating french knots to our table:
