here we go on how to make all these fun things….
I wanted to make some accessories and use them to top off some prom outfits. Get Trevor and I all dressed up – wouldn’t that have been great?! But such is life, I wasn’t able to pull it off – – so for a least a little fun, how about a look back on my senior prom – –

other contest info at the bottom of the post – – first let me show you how to make a few things….
First up, the clutch – – lay out several strips of duck tape, slightly overlapping – this will be the lining of your clutch:
Then over the top press your main pattern choice for the outside of the clutch:
The roll I used actually matched up the pattern – awesome – so I was sure to line it up as I went:
After you have a sheet with lining on one side and a main pattern on the other, trim all 4 sides of your rectangle to be straight:
If you want a pocket, add that now – use the same technique with lining on one side and pattern on the other:
And then just tape it into place on the sides and bottom:
Back to the main section of the bag – fold the bottom 1/3 the way up and secure the sides with tape – that’s it! Fold the top down and up to use the clutch.
I topped my clutch off with a big statement flower and I love how it adds dimension. I also added a strip of lining color to the top edge that folds down for some added interest:
Let me show you how to make the flower….it’s easy!
Just take one long strip, with lining on one side and tape down pattern on the other side (sticky sides together) –
Fold it like you would a paper fan – fold over, under, over, under, the entire length of the strip:
Then maneuver it in a circle so you can tape the ends of the strip together.
Then carefully push down the top edge into the center of the circle to form the flower:
Secure in the back with a piece of tape:
To hold the front, I rolled a small piece of tape, sticky side out, and shoved it down in the middle:
Now that we have a clutch for the gal, how about a matching bow tie for the guy – – this is pretty easy — I started with 3 strips of tape:
Folded the top down and the bottom up, to where they meet in the middle:
Then folded the sides in about an inch on each side and secured with tape:
Make a strip to hold the middle – just a thin piece of tape with the edges folded in. Leave exposed tape in the middle to hold the bow:
To fold the bow, fold the rectangle in half with front sides together:
Then fold the top back out and repeat with the bottom:
When you pinch the middle it looks like this:
And wrap that thin strip around it to hold it in place:
Voila, awesome bow tie for him.
But then I got to thinking that it would also look great as a hair accessory – bows in the hair are all the rage right now (comparison pic via here)
To do that I just slid a bobby pin in the back:
One more – – ring fun! Just take a strip and fold it in half, leaving a little sticky exposed:
Cut slits all the way down as shown:
Then roll it up – the sticky part will secure the flower as you roll:
Voila – –
