You know by now that I’m always a step behind on things. I jump on trends when they aren’t trends anymore, that sort of thing. Anyways, leggings. They’ve been a thing for a while, but I just haven’t been on board or understood. Until recently…. and now I get it! I know why everyone loves them and I want to wear them all day every day! I’m still not 100% on board with them as out-and-about outfits, but they are my go-to for daily loungewear at home.
They’re super easy to DIY – I just cut around a pair that I already had and knew fit well, and sewed them up in 15 minutes or so. I love how quickly they come together! I think I might need to take them in just a little around the ankle, but other than that, the fit is awesome.
The biggest challenge when making Lounge Leggings is finding cute fabric – my local fabric store doesn’t have much knit selection, and sometimes when I order online I never know what weight of fabric is coming. Anyways, problem solved! I am in love with this knit line from my friends at Simple Simon and Co. It is just the right thickness and way fun without being too crazy. It’s perfect!
The line of fabric is called By Popular Demand and it’s through Riley Blake. There are feathers and arrows and triangles – it’s like the trifecta of fabric pattern perfection. It was super hard to decide which fabric to use for my lounge leggings, and I kind of think I need a pair out of each design and color!
