Alright all of you with DSLR cameras – – you know I’m a HUGE advocate of learning to use your camera – if you shoot on auto, you might as well have bought a point-and-shoot. Another BIG thing I tell people over and over and over is to always avoid using your flash – always! You can bump up your ISO, etc. You’ll get a better picture because the on-board flash whites things out and is just a bad look.
But, what about when it’s dark, and it’s indoor light, etc?? I try to wait to take pictures when the room is filled with natural light, but you don’t always get that option. So your next best bet is to raise the ISO and change your white balance. But the pictures aren’t great. Now what? Enter, the Lightscoop – – ever heard of it?
That above image alone should tell you that you need one, but let me elaborate a little more..
The Lightscoop is basically a mirror that mounts onto your camera. It reflects the flash that’s built-in to your camera onto the ceiling – by bouncing light, the room lights up but you don’t get that harsh flash look – it’s perfect.
I took a picture of myself in the mirror using it — you can see how the flash is being reflected because it’s lighting up my head —
One of the best parts – it folds flat! That means it can easily be added to your camera bag and taken wherever you go, so you’re ready:
Here’s what it looks like – – and the kicker – it’s only $37 for the deluxe model (like I was sent to try out) and $30 for the original model (which doesn’t fold)
Let me tell you, that’s an amazing deal. I actually have a Speedlite Flash – and it’s awesome. And crazy expensive (Trevor got it for me for Christmas – because he likes to buy nice presents for me while I give him things like a new package of socks).
So if you’re not ready to jump on board with the Speedlite, the Lightscoop is an amazing alternative. Plus my big flash is, well, big, and I don’t take it everywhere. I will for sure always have my Lightscoop with me – it’s perfect for that.
Check out the Lightscoop Site for all the info you need!
And this is completely random, but I knew I took that picture of me a few years ago when I first got my flash – so I was digging back into my photo files and thought my kids were so cute and so I just have to share (because strangers love nothing more than to have to look at pictures of random kids)! It was right after Christmas – they got Hulabalo that year (awesome game for young kids – it was a huge hit) and I was practicing with my new flash so I had the camera out – this was in Dec 2009, so about 3 years ago. Time flies! Such cuties! (yes, there’s a kid in undies – just ignore that)
And back then I must have been a funner mom – – look at the awesome gingerbread house demolition I found pictures of in the same folder….

That comparison picture is incredible!! I completely forgot about Hulabaloo, I played it with some kids I was babysitting years ago. I’ll have to put it on my wish list for when Kylie gets older; I loved it! The gingerbread demo pictures stress me out – you are a fun mom 🙂

Trying to convince my husband that I need a DSLR camera. What kind do you have/recommend. Do you perhaps have a post with an Amazon link in it? 🙂 Thanks!

First sponsored post I’ve ever read and actually feel prompted to buy the product. Love how you did the side by side with and without it. Looks like an awesome solution and affordable. Also…are those legit hammers being swung around on your dining room table?! I freak out when my four year old bangs his plastic toddler spoon on the table. You are definitely a fun mom. 🙂
