I’m participating in an exciting project with several other bloggers – be sure to check out #IamBraveAndBeautiful
I am Brave and Beautiful – a beauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called TRY. My blogging friend Megan of Brassy Apple  (she’s so cool!) wanted to push this movement along and invited women from all over to share what they looked like without make up and I joined in –  Colbie’s song says, “Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “
Megan and her friend Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces have been the team behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there.
You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don’t need a blog either! Just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful  to see who else has joined in.
Are you brave and beautiful? …
I didn’t realize how much makeup I was wearing in my headshot until I compared it side-by-side with my non-make up look!  I think it’s fun to get dolled up and go all-out sometimes, so for me this isn’t about not liking makeup.  I like stepping it up and putting effort into my look and how I feel when I do.  I feel most comfortable in a little makeup – the middle pic is my “everyday look” -I always aim to have mascara on 🙂  So the headshot is a bit of a reach for an everyday look!  I even talk about that in my “about me” page, and I stuck on some non-headshot pics so you could recognize me if you ran into me at Walmart ).  It’s an interesting personal experiment to take a picture with completely no makeup at all, no photoshopping, etc – that’s my pic on the right.  A side-by-side:
I think it’s not about not liking trying to look your best – it’s about liking all versions of yourself.  Makeup and not and all that’s in between.  Embrace you and your awesomeness 🙂
Don’t stop here. Get clicking around – its a blog hop! Below are more brave and beautiful women bearing more than their natural beauty. They each have a little bit of their heart to share with you. Some get very personal. Some share stories. For some this was very hard to do yet they gathered their courage and did it anyway. We hope as you click around you will feel the importance of it, the empowering effect it has and that it encourages you in some way.

Great photo. If only I didn’t need to fill in my eyebrows from over tweezing in my youth. Sometimes I find I looked better before make up as long as my hair looks great.
Mandy Beyeler says
hair makes a difference! I actually took a pic first where I didn’t do makeup OR hair, and I ended up trying again with fixed hair 🙂

agreed, it’s more about how we feel about ourselves than how we look. BUT I will say I love getting all dolled up too, and how that makes me feel as well. But I’m 100% in love with my every day, non make up self as well.
