The fun of What I Wore Wednesday – – a few weeks ago I was a speaker at the KC branch of the RootsTech Conference, called Genealogy KC – I never showed you what I wore! So let’s do that now…
Outfits for this sort of thing are a little tricky – – the dress is “business casual” but as a blog-at-home-mom, I don’t really dress in that realm too often. Plus as a speaker I want to come off just a little dressier than the attendees, but still be comfortable. It’s a balance!
The Friday sessions I wore my striped maxi skirt (can’t go wrong with it!) and an orange scarf for a pop of color. And my comfy brown boots for lots of standing:
Saturday’s session I wore wide-leg trouser pants with a polka-dot blouse and yellow cardigan. Pop of color in the necklace and coral shoes – which are awful to walk in! I had to drive Trevor’s car there – a stick shift – so I had to wear other shoes while driving then make a switch-out when I got there:
I think both outfits worked well to be slightly dressy but still show a fun personality.
Do you have any go-tos for business casual??

you look hot! business casual suits you!
Digging the pops of color! My go tos for business casual are dress pants from Old Navy. I have a gray pair and a khaki pair with flats or boots and a nice shirt and cardigan. Granted I don’t have many occasions for wearing them anymore, but I used to.
I love the second outfit. It’s something I would wear myself. As a teacher I spend a lot of time in business casual. My go-to outfit consists of grey dress pants, a black shirt, and a coloured cardigan with a fun necklace. See why I like the second outfit so much?
That skirt! I love it!! Where can I get one?
