this is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own, and we really LOVE Star Wars and Big G Cereals!
You guys. Big G Cereals. Star Wars. It’s epic – need I say more?! You know we’re huge Star Wars fans over here, so when I heard that they teamed with with General Mills, we were all over that. The select cereals come with glow-in-the-dark decals, and we used them to do a Star Wars Bedroom Mini Makeover. Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cookie Crisp, Cheerios and Cheerios Multi Grain include the exclusive decals – six in all. With cameos from both the light and dark sides, the clings feature R2-D2 & C-3PO, Chewbacca, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and a Stormtrooper.
It was a win-win, because I got to bust out some crafting (see the canvas I made above!) and then I turned the decorating over to my kiddo – he loved having free reign on where to put everything, and I love that the decals are removable and reuseable 😉 Perfect for decorating bedrooms for fans of all ages, these repositionable decals can bring the Force to a multitude of smooth surfaces – from walls to bed posts and more. It’s fun that this corner of his room has two new looks – the day look and the night look!
So – – get ready for LOTS of info – – first, it’s all about the makeover, in VIDEO form, wahoo! Then after that, I’ll walk ya through making the custom canvas, so you want to keep on reading so you don’t miss a thing. Here ya go – watch the whole makeover in action:
Did ya catch it – the whole room makeover started with the eating of cereal and snagging of decals 😉
Now, on to the canvas – I love simple projects that turn out awesome, and this is one of those. I have a quick video version, and then photo step-by-step version, so it’s whichever you prefer!
Fun, right?! First you start off painting your canvas in black.
Until it is covered completely. I liked the brush-strokes and depth they added, but if you don’t you can always add a second coat.
Let dry. Once it’s dry you can add the decal – I cut this from one of the decals found in the cereal boxes.
Finally, I added star dots with glow-in-the-dark puff paint – I started pretty tight in the center, and then grew farther spaced as I went closer to the edge.
That’s all there is to it!! It looks super cool both in the Daylight and in the Dark, so I call that a win!
I love how he stuck it right above the nightstand, and all the decals around it – it really adds a fun piece to the wall.
Now this corner of his room is finished…
And it sure goes hand-in-hand with the other corner of the room…
