Snowflake Mason Jar Craft Gift Idea
Let’s get started – you’ll need:

–Snowflake stickers (I cut my own from vinyl)
–Paint, in white, plus desired color of your Ball® jar, plus paint brush – I just used regular craft paint
–Mod Podge or other clear sealer
–Cellophane and ribbon for wrapping, candy for filling.
Snowflake Mason Jar Craft Gift VIDEO TUTORIAL
YES! Lucky you, I have a quick video tutorial for you to walk you easily through this project. If you prefer a photo tutorial, I have that as well!
Snowflake Ball® Mason Jar Craft Gift TUTORIAL
First you’ll want to stick your snowflake stickers to your jar. Wherever you put the stickers is where a “window” in the paint will be created. I put them all around the jar, but it did mean more work when it came time to pull them all off.
How to Paint a Ball® Mason Jar
- put on any stickers you’d like, if desired
- paint a layer of WHITE – this will help your color layer stand out and pop
- paint 2 layers of color. Let all paint dry between each coat.
- sand and distress if desired
- seal with a top coat of mod podge
You want to first paint a layer of white. It will help “prime” the Ball® jar and help your layers of color to really stand out.
I used 2 layers of color when I painted those one. So in total, 1 layer of white and 2 layers of color. Let dry between each coat.
Once it’s dry, you can peel off the snowflake decal. I used a straight pin and lots of patience 😉
If desired, you can use sandpaper to distress areas such as the raised Ball® logo or along the rim or in random spots.
Once you’re finished with any distressing, add a final coat of mod podge over it all to help seal and protect the paint to prevent from scratching. It will go on white but it will dry clear. Fill with candies.
If you want an extra touch when you gift it, wrap the Ball® jar in cellophane.
Here you can see how I have the snowflakes going all around the Ball® jar so you can see in all around, no matter what side:
When I made this set of 3 I painted each Ball® jar in a slightly different color, I love the variety it gives!
The best gifts come wrapped in a jar, so give and give again!
Enjoy making your own Snowflake Ball® Mason Jar Craft Gift!

Where can I find snowflake pattern you used?
Mandy Beyeler says
I found that one in the Silhouette Design Store, hope that helps!

Tried this 3 times and the paint just kept smearing when I added a layer. Even let it dry overnight. Tried chalk paint and craft paint. Brush and sponge.
Mandy Beyeler says
so sorry that’s happening – I didn’t have a problem with smearing when adding layers to mine, so I’m not sure what the difference might be. I used craft paint on mine.

i’m new to this. How do I make the snowflake stickers on vinyl. You mentioned that you found your snowflake patterns on Silhouette Design Store. Were you able to print them onto the vinyl and if so, how is this done?
Mandy Beyeler says
I have a cutting machine called a Silhouette. It cuts vinyl. It has software where you can pick what designs it cuts, and to find those designs you use the Design Store. Hope that helps!!
