These are notes from the classes I took at SNAP and are obviously the things that stood out to me, things I want to implement, etc – check out their blog for more info on the sessions, better pictures, fun times, etc.
I went to the class called TrendSpotting – because of the speakers, and because we all know I need help in this area! I took my notes according to each person’s presentation – here we go…

–Trends are what’s happening now
–Trends can INSPIRE you
–Research – find what’s up and coming (fashion, beauty, home dec, etc) – look for colors, patterns/textures, style/mood, shapes, graphic design, lettering, etc
Where to find trends:
–internet (blogs, emags, pinterest, instagram, trend reports)
–offline (binder, notebook, inspiration wall) – local stores, museums, etc
Find what you’re attracted to – details – listen, touch, see, smell
Notice repeating things and pull those elements
Research a small amount daily – keep in the loop
Make trends your own – use your own personal style to interpret what you see
Use multiple trends to combine and make something new

I think the comments about being/starting your own trends is so important! So often, I see things that are “trendy” and just can’t get into them. I love it when someone does what they love and owns it.
