Are you playing it?! Because I think everyone out there might be – I love spotting people on the sidewalks as I drive by, all playing that new Pokemon Go game. My kids are pretty hooked on it, but since we don’t give them tons of screen time, they’ve gotten creative and tackled a Pokemon Go Craft using their go-to favorite medium – perler melting beads!
They started with the basic pokemon ball thing (it has a name! I just don’t know it….)
And then they started looking up ideas for other characters like picachu, and then they even branched out and just made some on their own without patterns.
All of my kids LOVE perler beads, but my 7 yr old is for sure hooked on them – he’s always sitting down to make SOMETHING. They’re a great craft supply to have on hand. I have been restocking colors lately so that there’s nothing stopping their creativity. The basics of perler beads – you build your design on the plastic trays (using tweezers can be really helpful), then you iron the design to melt all the beads together. Then you flip it over so the ironed part is the back and voila, you’ve got your design. So fun!
