Long ago I hung pictures on our wall (see the post HERE from the beginnings of my blog) – – the frames stayed in the same spot because I didn’t update the pictures – until recently. So I switched them out (there’s a group family picture, it’s the one from our Christmas Card, then an all-girls picture and an all-boys picture, along with our name plaque). But then I ordered my canvas of the just-kids picture.
So now what. Currently we just stuck it on the wall adjacent, but it’s kind of off by itself – is that okay?? The canvas is the same size as the big picture (16×20) but by itself it kind of looks small. What do you think?
I originally wanted to put it on the right-hand side of the picture bunch, and move the whole picture bunch over about 8 inches. I told my husband and he thought I was crazy: “move them all over, only to do it slightly?? are you sure?” so then I didn’t know if I was sure – so I’m asking you!
In related news, now that you’ve taken pictures for the holidays, and things are slowing down, think about turning a picture into a canvas. I really love mine and how it brings something different to the wall. And remember, if you get a canvas you don’t have to buy a frame, so that’s another savings to consider.
So right now there are a couple of different deals through Canvas People. Both are a little different than the last deal in that you get FREE shipping, and shipping was kind of pricey, so that’s a nice perk.
-or-
So do the math – the best deal for you depends on what size of canvas you want. So figure the price using 25% off and then $25 off and see which is best.
Anyways, if you missed on the last deals, go ahead and jump on these deals – I’m not sure how long they’ll last…..
And let me know if you have ideas how to arrange mine on my wall….

I think it looks good! Love the name plaque, and the one by it self seems to balance the others. Just my option.

I think it looks good, but I kind of agree that it looks lonely. My 2 cents even though I totally don’t know what I am doing. One, move it down a little on the wall, it looks a little high. Then maybe being a little closer to the lamp etc. it won’t look so lonely. Two, switch it out with the 2 little pictures on the other wall and put the 2 little pictures in its place but step ladder them so they add some demension. Theres my 2 cents.

I would agree with Micah. All pics seem a little high. I like the one by itself but it is the only thing not “framed” visually. Bringing it down may “anchor” it. What a beautiful wall!

I agree with moving everything down on the wall. I like the canvas off by itself, but the other stuff could use 1 more piece. I like grouping things in odd numbers. What about something like this?

That would help spread out one wall and bring in the other wall. Keep in mind that I’m no professional and it doesn’t hurt my feelings if you don’t like it! I’m just a master at goofing off on the computer when I should be doing other things…like finishing my SYTYC project for this week!

I’m saying this with love—but all your pictures are too high! I agree with the other posters about this….it’s actually a huge pet peeve of mine. You want the majority of things to be at eye level, but in a sitting area, you want things to be closer to the furniture…not floating above in isolation. I think if the canvas were a little lower, and the others too, it would not look so lonely! Your canvas might look cute grouped with an interesting-shaped thing (like an initial for your last name)? I would also add some things to your sofa grouping.

I love my Canvas People canvas too!!! But I am also having trouble deciding where to put it… It just seems lonely hung on the wall by itself…. But at the same time, it kind of looks out of place hung with other pictures.

I don’t agree with some who said to move all the pictures down. I have little ones so I know! IT may look nice but in the end it wont when they are covered in fingerprints and shattered on the floor. I’d move the other black framed picture you have on the right up so the top is level with you big big frame and then put your canvas where that was, and yes I would move them all over.
