I’m sure I’m like a lot of you and do not have tons of extra storage space to store extra holiday decor. I try to create projects that serve double duty for more than one holiday. With “blessed” on one side and “thankful” on the other side, this Gratitude Pillow is especially perfect for the Fall and Holiday season…

What you’ll need…

Blank pillow or Pillow cover
brown wrapping paper
white cardstock sheet
Gold fabric paint
stencil brush
painters tape
Cutting machine

Let’s get started…

Lucky for me, I had the perfect sized long pillowcase. I don’t imagine you do, but this is still an idea to use on any other pillowcase. Here’s how I made simple covers for my dining room chairs, which is just how I would create a simple pillowcase. Once you acquire a pillowcase or make your own, slide a piece of cardstock or two into the pillowcase to keep the paint from bleeding through.

Then cut out the words you would like to use. I used my Cricut Explore to cut the words “thankful” and “blessed” out of brown wrapping paper. Why did I use the brown wrapping paper? This paper is a perfect choice for anything you would like to cut that is longer than the typical paper size of 12 in.

The paper is a little more flimsy than cardstock, so you need to center it on your pillowcase and tape it into place.

Then carefully paint with gold paint using this stencil technique. The tricky part is to make sure to hold down the little pieces of the stencil while painting. Paint one side, allow to dry, then repeat the same process with the other side. Fill with a pillow form or pillow stuffing. Enjoy all through the holidays!
