Add bright and colorful throw pillows – bright and colorful just shouts “summer”, and adding those pops of color can get your home ready for summer!

Summer Treats

In the summer I always stock my freezer with ice pops so the kids can have a fun popsicle treat in the afternoons when it’s super hot.  It’s summer tradition!

Clean Carpets

The house has been closed up all winter and spring, it’s time to freshen up the carpet for summer!  We had the carpets in our bedroom and hallway bridge landing cleaned, and it’s SO nice to be heading into summer with those areas clean.  Here’s the before of the bedroom – you can see the walking path of grime!  We used Stanley Steemer and were very happy with the service they provided.

Check-Ups

For kiddos and pets, make sure they’re up-to-date on well-child and yearly exams, shots, etc.  My kiddos have had their school physicals for the upcoming year already, and are scheduled for eye exams and dental visits.  Getting all of that checked off the to-do list makes summer even more enjoyable!

Clean Furniture

The biggest surprise of the day when Stanley Steemer came was how awesome it was to have clean furniture!!  It wasn’t originally on my to-do list, but once they offered I was SO glad that it was something they provided.  I didn’t think my couches were dirty until I saw them clean, ha!  SO nice to know that aren’t harboring dust and dirt and germs from over the winter months.

In the future when I have cleaners come out, I will always have them clean the furniture in addition to carpets and rugs.

Compose a Summer Bucket-List

Each year as a family we put together a list of things that we want to do in the summer.  Having a list helps us to make those things happen!  Our list includes big things like vacations and little things like swimming with friends.  And everything in-between!

Empty Closets

While your winter clothes are still out, go through them and purge any that you didn’t wear, that might not fit, or that are too worn.  Donate what’s appropriate.  Purging clothes while they’re still fresh in your mind is easier than trying to go through them when winter rolls around again.

Clean Rugs

When you’re having your home cleaned, don’t forget the rugs!  This was probably the dirtiest part in our home, all the muddy feet from pets and kiddos in the spring, all the winter grime build up – our rug was long overdue for a cleaning!  It was so caked in and matted down, I was beginning to think we just needed a new rug.  Here’s the yucky before:

The nicest part is that the pile is back up and fluffed, instead of being matted down and grungy.
