Have you heard?? The super awesome girls of Simple Simon and Co have come out with a fun fabric line called Four Corners – and it comes in wovens AND knits, how great is that?!
I am hooked on knits lately, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some – so excited that they sent me some fabric to play with. I love how the patterns coordinate and mix-and-match without being too matchy-matchy. Spoiler alert: wouldn’t these make great mother/daughter knit skirts?!…
I really love how my knit pencil skirt came out – the fabric is the perfect weight for a skirt. And this is the best-fitting pencil skirt I own, because I used a self-drafted pattern for the perfect fit. I actually took a class from Simple Simon and Co a couple of years ago at SNAP to learn how to draft a pencil skirt pattern, and so I thought it was only appropriate to use that pattern with their fabric. They’ve since posted about Drafting a Skirt Sloper, so you too can have a perfect-fitting skirt.
For the hem I used a double-needle and the fabric was a good weight in that it didn’t pucker or get wavy, as my hems sometimes tend to do.
I love the fun pops of color in the skirt – the orange and the mustard yellow are a fun way to pull fall out of the outfit.
And it really goes with everything – browns and grays and all in between. Aren’t you loving this fabric?? You can find all the Four Corners knit options online at Riley Blake.
