I think it’s the crafter in me – I love embellishing outfits. It’s a simple way to add a touch of DIY and give it a personalized touch – and it’s a fun way to express all the creativity! So with my girls, we made a DIY Glow in the Dark Halloween Outfit using Tulip glow paint (this throws me back to my own childhood!) – and I love it’s fun and funky personality —
I love that it’s fun both by itself and in the dark. The day look is cute and those neon colors are all the rage:
And the night look is just super fun – –
And think of the possibilities at those Halloween Parties when they have the blacklight out – they glow super awesome under blacklight.
The project is fun and easy because you just embellish a shirt/legging you have on hand already – – let’s get started with the tutorial. You’ll need:
–shirt and legging set
–Tulip neon glow fabric paint
For the shirt, I simply outlined the present design to give it more dimension and pop. I used pink paint on the bow:
And then I used white glow paint to outline everything. It’s not that noticeable during the day, but makes a huge impact in the dark. To make a line, just squeeze slowly and steadily as you draw with the paint bottle. The tip does a good job of thin-line application.
With the leggings, we used a variety of colors in fun patterns and lines. Thick paint makes for a better glow and I like the added dimension.
I have found that if I involve my girls in the crafting projects, they love the outcome even more because they had a part in the creation process. I turned the leggings over to them and they had a blast making them unique —
I love how they came out!

Love Abby’s fashion glasses – she’s really learning how to “strike a pose”. Awesome Halloween outfit, too.

yes, she thought they’d be perfect for pictures, so they made the cut 🙂

The whole outfit is super cute, but I think the leggings are my favorite. I need some of those now! And I would have LOVED them in the 80s!
