Hey there! I am Britt, the gal behind My Only Sunshine and I love sharing a little of my sunshine with you. I’m here today to show you how to make red, white, + blue tie dye sugar cookie cups.
Supplies:
-three bowls
-sugar cookie mix (3)
-red food coloring
-blue food coloring
-muffin tin
In separate bowls, mix up all three cookie mixes according to the instructions on the packaging. As you are mixing, add in red food coloring in one and blue food coloring in another. Be sure to leave one bowl plain.
Once the doughs are mixed, take them out and form each color into a long snake-like shape. After all three are placed, twist all three colors together. Then knead the dough in your hands, mixing the colors, until it is to your liking. I just tried to make sure there were no large areas that weren’t mixed well. There is no real right or wrong way to do it, you just want to get designs that you like!
Next you will want to break off 2 inch pieces and place them into the muffin pan. Using your fingers, gently press the dough to fill the individual section. Make sure to press the dough up along the sides to make a cup shape.
Bake the cookies according to the instructions. I had to add a little extra time to mine because they are a little thicker than just making regular cookies. You’ll want to adjust according to your oven as well. Make sure to let your cookies cool before removing them from the muffin pan. If they are too soft they will fall apart, believe me.
Once they have cooled, and you have removed them from the pan, you can fill them with whatever you would like. I added a scoop of vanilla ice cream and golden sprinkles on top. It was a fun and colorful way to enjoy a sweet treat!
Thank you so much for having me! If you loved this, I think you’d love these two projects (here + here), you should come on over and check them out on the blog. xo Britt
