I’m always encouraging you to try new-to-you crafty things – well I do it to! While at SNAP I took a sewing class on paper piecing. And I’m super proud that I was able to do it! I took those blocks and made yet another pillow (I feel like it’s pillow season here on Sugar Bee Crafts!)
It all started when I unpacked my craft room and simultaneously unpacked my stuff from SNAP conference (yes, it was clear back in April – I’ve been busy! moving, building a house, etc etc….) and I found the blocks I had made in class with all the supplies to make 2 more blocks to complete the project. At first I couldn’t remember how to do it, but it came back to me, phew! With paper piecing, it’s like sewing and thinking opposite the whole time, which is tricky – but then all you have to do is sew on the lines on the paper and magically an intricately pieced square appears on the back – it’s super cool! Here’s what the paper pattern looked like:
and then what the blocks came out to be:
I am for sure no expert on paper piecing, so I’ll just let you google or search youtube for tutorials on it – but it’s really cool and worth trying out! (PS, you’ll want to follow me on Instagram, then you won’t miss sneak peeks like this – – – )
You can see how intricate the blocks turned out! Then I added a couple of strips of gray next to the blocks and just did some simple straight-line quilting on them. I love the little details like that!
I also made tassels for the first time – they were way easy and fun! I’m planning a whole tutorial for just tassels coming up – we all need to be making them!!
And there ya have it – one more pillow to add to the plethora on the couch – I’m slowing getting there!
